Customer Reviews
Decent Prices, But Shipping Concerns
Compared to Wine.com, City Wine Merchant often has some really competitive pre-arrival pricing, especially on things like Sauternes. I was eyeing a particular Austrian Gruner Veltliner too, but I'm still a bit concerned about their shipping temperature control policy. It's not as clear as I'd like, which makes me hesitant for delicate wines. They offer good deals, but I just wish that aspect was more transparent.
Good spot for unique wines
Was looking for a good Zinfandel and stumbled upon City Wine Merchant. They had a great selection, and the pricing was pretty competitive, especially when comparing to Wine.com or even K&L Wine Merchants. Shipping was solid, arrived on time. I did notice they dont offer professional wine storage, which would be a nice add-on for serious collectors, but otherwise, a solid experience.
Good prices, but checkout was a bit clunky
I was looking for some Bordeaux Futures and City Wine Merchant had really competitive pre-arrival pricing, saving me about 18% compared to Wine.com. I found a great deal on the 2019 Château Gloria. The volume-based shipping incentives were also a plus. My main issue was at checkout; I had a promo code, and figuring out where to apply it was a little confusing, it felt hidden until the very last step. Otherwise, good value.
Great prices, quick shipping on Sangiovese
I was looking for a good Sangiovese and City Wine Merchant had exactly what I wanted at a competitive price. Their pre-arrival offers are usually fantastic, and this time was no different. Placing the order was straightforward, though I did notice the promo code entry comes right at the very end of checkout. Shipping was surprisingly fast; I had my bottles within about 4 business days. Compared to some other sites like Wine.com or K&L, their shipping turnaround is definitely a strong point.
great source for burgundy
grabbed a couple bottles of that Gevrey-Chambertin from Dujac they had listed, amazing price point compared to K&L and others. ordering was super simple, took like 5 minutes top. i was a little worried about shipping to my state but they delivered pretty quick, maybe 4 days from order to my doorstep, all packaged perfectly. really appreciate that they focus on those pre-arrival deals, saves a ton over time. always checking their new offers now.
Amazing Pre-Arrival Deals on Bordeaux Futures!
I saved 27% on a pre-arrival order of Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes! Their Bordeaux Futures system is super straightforward, and I love that they prioritize value through those pre-arrival prices and shipping incentives over just promo codes. I'll definitely be buying my dessert wine and half bottles here again. Forget Wine.com or K&L, City Wine Merchant is where it's at! 🍷
Good deals, limited pickup options
I was checking out their Petit Verdot selection, and the pre-arrival pricing really caught my eye – saved a good amount compared to other sites like Wine.com. It's a bummer they don't offer local pickup at a Buffalo store, though, as shipping costs can add up if you're not buying in volume.
Amazing selection!
Oh my goodness, I am so happy with my purchase from City Wine Merchant! I got some fantastic Grower Champagne and a few bottles of Austrian Gruner Veltliner, which are hard to find. Their selection is incredible! I spent ages just browsing all the different regions. The checkout was super easy, and my wine arrived perfectly. I will absolutely be shopping here again for all my special occasion wines. You have to check them out if you love wine!
Good value on Futures
I was looking for some Bordeaux Futures and City Wine Merchant had really competitive pricing. I compared them to a few other sites and they definitely offered the best deal on the 2021 Chateau Lafite Rothschild. The pre-arrival pricing was excellent and made the purchase worth it for sure. I also signed up for their newsletter and got a small offer right away. It felt like a good investment.
Quick shipping, good wine
Ordered some Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Website was easy. Shipping was fast, arrived in good condition. Wine was great. No complaints.

I'm a first-time buyer. Any way to get a discount? Or is it mostly just for big orders?
Hey, thinking about grabbing a case of the Bordeaux futures. How does that whole process work here? Do they just ship it when it's ready?
Quick question about shipping. I'm in Miami, and it's hot as heck here. Do they ship with temperature control or anything like that?
Does anyone know if City Wine Merchant is legit for those really rare bottles? I'm eyeing a 1982 Haut-Brion and want to make sure it's the real deal.
